Privacy Policy — Signal247
Last updated: 2026-03-29
Effective date: 2026-03-29
Signal247 is an AI news and analysis publication at 247ai.info. We take privacy seriously — not just because the law requires it, but because it’s the right thing to do. This policy explains what data we collect, why, how long we keep it, and what you can do about it.
We’ve written this in plain language. If something is unclear, reach out and we’ll explain it.
Who We Are
Signal247 is operated by:
Martijn van der Munnik / Omni IT B.V.
Based in the Netherlands (European Economic Area)
For any privacy-related questions or requests:
📧 privacy@247ai.info
As an EEA-based operator, we are subject to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
What Data We Collect and Why
1. Pre-launch email sign-ups
What: Your email address, and optionally your name if you provide it.
Why: To notify you when Signal247 launches, and to send you content updates if you’ve opted in.
Legal basis (GDPR Art. 6): Your consent (Art. 6(1)(a)). You can withdraw this at any time — see Your Rights below.
Processor: Brevo (formerly Sendinblue), operating via mail.247ai.info. Brevo is an EEA-based provider and processes data under a Data Processing Agreement with us.
Retention: Until you unsubscribe. We will not retain your email after a withdrawal of consent is processed.
2. WordPress user accounts
What: Display name, email address, and username chosen at registration.
Why: To provide you with a registered account, which enables features such as saving preferences and posting comments under your chosen identity.
Legal basis: Performance of a contract / provision of a service you’ve requested (Art. 6(1)(b)).
Processor: WordPress, hosted on Hostinger servers within the EEA. Hostinger processes data under a Data Processing Agreement.
Retention: For as long as your account is active. If you request deletion of your account, we will remove your account data. Content you have posted (such as approved comments) may be anonymised rather than deleted — see below.
3. Comment data
What: Your name (or display name), email address, IP address at time of submission, and the content of your comment.
Why: To enable public discussion on articles, verify that comments are not spam, and moderate content appropriately.
Legal basis: Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) — enabling a public discussion forum is a reasonable and proportionate purpose for a news publication. You can object to this processing — see Your Rights below.
Processor: WordPress, hosted on Hostinger.
AI moderation: Before publication, comment text is screened by an automated AI moderation service (OpenAI Moderation API) to detect content that violates our community guidelines. Only the comment text is sent to this service — no personal identifiers (name, email, IP address) are transmitted. See the Data Processors table below for details on this processor.
Retention: Approved comments are retained for as long as the article is active, with a maximum of 12 months. Your email address and IP address are used for moderation purposes and are not publicly displayed. If you request removal of a comment, we will action this promptly.
4. Analytics (Plausible Analytics)
What: Aggregated, anonymised traffic data — page views, referrer sources, geographic region (country level), device type, and browser type. No personal data is collected. No cookies are set. No cross-site tracking occurs.
Why: To understand how people use Signal247 so we can improve it.
Legal basis: Legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)). Because Plausible does not collect personal data and uses no cookies, this processing does not require consent under GDPR or the ePrivacy Directive.
Processor: Plausible Analytics, an Irish/EU-based analytics provider built specifically for privacy-preserving measurement. Their data is processed and stored in the EEA. Plausible does not sell data or use it for advertising.
Retention: Aggregated statistics are retained indefinitely for historical analysis. Because no personal data is stored, there is no individual record to delete.
Cookies
Signal247 does not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or analytics cookies.
We use Plausible Analytics, which is fully cookieless. No cookie consent banner is required or displayed.
WordPress may set a small number of functional cookies if you log in to your account or post a comment. These cookies are strictly necessary for those features to work and are not used for tracking. They expire when your session ends or within a short, defined period.
Data Processors
We work with the following third-party processors. Each processes data only on our instruction and under a Data Processing Agreement:
| Processor | Role | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Brevo | Email delivery for subscriber list | France (EEA) |
| Plausible Analytics | Privacy-preserving website analytics | Ireland (EEA) |
| Hostinger | WordPress hosting (user accounts, comments, site content) | Lithuania (EEA) |
| OpenAI | AI-assisted comment content moderation | United States (non-EEA — Standard Contractual Clauses apply) |
Note on OpenAI (non-EEA transfer): Comment text is sent to OpenAI’s Moderation API to screen for content that violates our community guidelines. Only the comment text is transmitted — no personal identifiers (name, email address, or IP address) are sent. OpenAI processes this data under their Data Processing Agreement with Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) for international data transfers. Per OpenAI’s current API data usage policy, API inputs are not used to train models and are retained only as needed for abuse monitoring (typically up to 30 days). The legal basis for this processing is legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f)) — content moderation to maintain a safe public discussion forum.
We do not use CDN providers, advertising networks, or social media tracking pixels at this time. If this changes, this policy will be updated before any such service is activated.
